Yuri Zhukov began his studies at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St.Petersburg, Russia, and danced professionally with the Kirov Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet. His choreography has been perormed by several Europian and American dance companies, including ZDT, which was founded in 2008 by Yuri Zhukov with Millicent Powers and Sandy Lee.


"I was trained as a classical dancer, and spent many years playing the Prince... but creatively, my heart was moving in a very different direction. I am aiming for a fearless choreography that is more expressive of the current world, a vocabulary in wich the ballet is almost invisible - except for the virtuosity of the dancers." - Yuri Zhukov.

Idan Sharabi. Guest choreographer (Spider On a Mirror, 2013),  was born in Israel. He studied at the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts in Tel Aviv before attending Juilliard in New York, where he was awarded the Zaraspe Prize for Best Juilliard Choreographer in 2006. Upon graduation, Sharabi danced for The Netherlands Dans Theatre in Holland, and  the Batsheva Dance Company.

His choreography was performed by the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel,  Ballet Junior de Geneve in Switzerland and others.a paragraph. ​


Hlin Diego. Dancer (2008) and guest choreographer (2009) Caught in The Square.

Hlin was born in Iceland and educated at the Royal Swedish Ballet School. She performed with Icelandic

Dance Company, Tirolern Landestheater, Cullberg Ballet, Gotheborg Ballet, Ultima Vez.

Millicent Powers. Co-founder.

Sandy Lee is a graphic designer and photographer based in San Francisco.She is responsible for all of the design and photography for ZDT. In 1991, Ms. Lee and her business partner Tom Hunt, founded Momentum Design, a firm whose clients range from small arts groups to leading technology companies. One of Ms.Lee's and Mr. Hunt's joint credits includes a book about San Francisco Ballet (At the Ballet, Rizzoli/Universe, 1998) which was based on their six years of photographing the Company, both behind the scenes and in performance. During that project, Sandy met and became friends with Yuri Zhukov, who was then a Principal Dancer with the Company. Ms. Lee is also the founder and owner of City Dance Studios in San Francisco and she is a member and a Director of Loose Change Dance Company.
